Insured persons

You can take out insurance for several persons if they live in your household permanently and the household is in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein.
A partner refers to a spouse or a de-facto partner in the same household as the policyholder.
Unmarried children in your household who are
  • below age 20
or
  • not gainfully employed.
Besides your partner, you can take out insurance online for at the most 2 other adults. A maximum of 10 persons can be insured, including children. They all must share the same household.

If you are thinking to take out travel cancellation cost insurance, we recommend having it start immediately because something (illness, accident, etc.) could get in the way of your plans already today.

Please note any notice periods with your current insurer that may apply.

Cancellation cost insurance covers all cancellation costs if you are unable to start your trip as planned or if you need to return early.

Examples:
  • You have an accident or become ill.
  • A person close to you or your deputy at work has an accident, falls ill, or dies.
  • You lose your job.
  • Your property at home is damaged or stolen.
  • A strike or natural disaster such as an earthquake, civil commotion, flood, etc. occurs.

  • The contractually owed cancellation costs
  • Processing fees

Note: Events connected with coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19) are not insured. Example: A flight is canceled due to coronavirus. But if you yourself contract coronavirus, this is still insured.
Personal assistance insurance covers the additional cost from unforeseen events that force you to cancel or change your travel plans.

Examples:
You have an accident or fall ill. A person close to you, your pet, or your deputy at work has an accident, falls ill, or dies. Your means of transportation fails. Your property is damaged or stolen while at home or out and about. Your personal documents (ID, credit cards, etc.) are lost. A strike or natural disaster such as an earthquake, civil commotion, flood, etc. occurs.

Benefits:
  • Inquiries and coordination with doctors and hospitals at your location and in Switzerland
  • Rescue and recovery costs
  • Transportation costs to the doctor or hospital
  • Cost advances for medical treatment abroad or if personal documents are lost
  • Transportation costs for the direct return home or for continuing the trip
  • Additional costs for accommodation and meals
  • Meals and transportation for someone to bring your children home if you are unable to do so yourself

Vehicle assistance insurance covers the costs if your car, recreational vehicle (up to 3,500 kg), or motorcycle fails and includes all the necessary measures.

  • Vehicle recovery
  • Vehicle repatriation within a guaranteed period
  • Rescue and recovery costs of the insured person
  • Additional cost of transportation, meals and accommodation
